Summary
Performs activities resulting in the generation of sales for MicroSun. Generates new leads and follows through with prospects with existing and new customers for current or new products. Travels to current and potential customer locations for purposes of expanding or generating new sales opportunities. Familiar with costs to build products offered by MicroSun. Provides customers with product quotations based on product costs and required product margins. Holds contract review meetings with internal staff to relay product and customer expectations.

Duties and Responsibilities
Transactional Related Duties
  • Generate sales to achieve maximum profitability against annual sales targets. Initiate contact with new customers, establish contact and present proposals.
  • Review and analyze customer requirements, involve technical staff when needed. Provide customer with product quotations based on internal cost and margin factors.
  • Manage manufacturing representatives and ensure that the rep's are actively pursuing new opportunities and representing MicroSun in the best light.
  • Participate in selected trade shows and present MicroSun products.
  • Facilitate internal contract review meetings to present the customer requirements and expectations. Relay the appropriate information for a successful project handoff. Accountable to continually monitor project status and MicroSun's ability to meet the customer deadlines.
  • Generate new leads through the analysis of market research and initiated cold calls.
  • Contribute to the development of the company's corporate strategy, particularly in relation to the sales objectives. Development and implementation of processes that enhance and accelerate the growth of the company.
  • Develop all necessary procedures and processes to ensure that the sales function operates efficiently and effectively and achieves all sales objectives, including keeping expenses within budget.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key customers and other relevant bodies to ensure that the company's maximum sales potential is realized. Identify and exploit new sales opportunities with existing and potential customers.
  • Monitor the sales performance of competitors to ensure that the company maintains and develops its competitive position. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of developments in the industry and keeps staff informed of the advancements so that the company maintains competitive position.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication links with other departments within the company to identify new sales opportunities and ensure that others are informed and motivated to meet the customer expectations.
  • Maintain accurate records of all sales activities and prepare regular forecasts to enable effective forward planning. Maintain awareness of company products and of relevant sales techniques to ensure that the sales role is carried out as effectively as possible, by self and staff.

Reporting Related Duties
  • Compile and publish monthly status reports denoting the following:
  • Department & Individual metrics (ie Key Performance Indicators )
  • Individual Project Status Reports (including required updates on projects, etc.)
  • Progress Reports (budget to actual) of gross margin targets, number of new customers, sales numbers to plan, new contacts made, representative visits, etc.


Qualifications:
  • Education/Experience - B.S. in Marketing or Engineering or equivalent is required. At least 5 years experience in the battery and / or charger industry and electrical industries; knowledge of the industry and key networking connections.
  • Customer Service - Pleasant approach, attitude, appearance, and follow through are requirements for this position.
  • Computer Skills - Ability to use technology such as daily schedulers, project management tools, contact management software, excel, and email in order to efficiently handle the workflow and transactions generated.
